It’s always a panic when you only have a few weeks to go until your big day, and you’re constantly worrying about having to look perfect and hope to fit into your wedding dress. Trust me, I know. Quick fad diets won't work and there's no easy way out apart from training hard and putting the time and effort into what you eat and working out. Gyms are so repetitive and get boring after a while, 30mins on the treadmill whilst staring at a blank wall, to waiting to use the machines for some light bulking isn't my kind of fun. I started browsing the net trying to find some inspiration and different activities that I might be interested in and came across Martial Tribes on Facebook. What attracted me was a recent Facebook post they shared about a martial arts workout that looked pretty intense, challenging and fun! I was intrigued to find out more.

These days even gyms and personal trainers incorporate lots of martial arts training techniques and exercises into workouts giving more diversity and because it works. I’m sure you might of heard of Boxercise, Cardio-Kickboxing, Kung Fu Aerobics, where punching bags, mitt pads and kicking pads are used in these sessions to maximize fat burning weight loss. Usually a class will last an hour and martial arts training is a very high intensity workout, infact you can burn up to 2000 calories a session and is great for anyone who wants to lose weight fast. Martial arts training have a great variety built into the sessions with warm-ups and cool-downs, stretching exercises, strength building exercises and cardio exercises as well as being great for our minds too.


The exercises you will learn will improve your cardiovascular fitness and help build muscle strength. You will also notice your muscle flexibility and endurance will improve and this will have a huge impact on your overall fitness. Martial arts training elevates our heart rate and warm up exercises like pushups and squats will improve the strength, size and shape of our muscles. The increased body balance and coordination will be of use when the time comes to walk down the aisle!

Losing weight is the main goal but there are many other benefits that you can gain from practicing martial arts. The ability to know how to defend yourself, improving the organs to function better, reducing stress, boosting the immune system and so on. The only day we need to look our best is our wedding day and with a healthy nutritional diet and three martial arts sessions a week will go far. Your skin will be flawless and radiant in no time and a positive attitude will be transparent.

Martial artists whether it be in karate, kickboxing or judo are seen to be the fittest athletes in the world and losing weight could not be more enjoyable. There's a sense of achievement once you begin to master the techniques taught and the new confidence that results from feeling fitter and stronger to looking fitter and stronger. When you start to realize you’re looking better and feeling healthier, you generally happier. You may even explode with happiness because you’ve got your wedding coming up too! The confidence will shine through and all the sweat, blood, and tears would have been worth it!
