With last year's resolutions, I think I scored a solid 80% on them. That said, I think they were a little bit too ambitious. Maybe perfect for the person I was in 2017, but this upcoming year, I want and need to become a different person and do things differently. These resolutions might not sound like much, but they require a huge mind shift for me. Here they are:
DO LESS, NOT MORE
I constantly have new ideas and projects I start or commit to. There is never any down time for me because I am constantly making use of every single pocket of time I have. (I actually take a lot of pride in this.) If I don't do something I feel unproductive and lazy. This need to constantly do something is exhausting and probably affecting many aspects of my life negatively. I'm not saying I am going to quit doing everything/anything and just watch Netflix with all my time. Rather, if I chose to do something, it should bring me joy or move me closer to my personal or business goals.
SELF-CARE ON A REGULAR BASIS
I kinda started this last year but usually when I was at the end of my rope. I've learned that self-care is not selfish and should be practiced on a regular basis. Because this is new to me, I'm not quite sure how to implement this goal yet. As a starting point, I will be mindful of when I am feeling low, remind myself to take care of me, and do something about it.
MAKE PERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS A PRIORITY
Often the ones closest to you are the ones that get forgotten or taken for granted. For me, there are two individuals that often get taken for granted, my partner and my dad. I'm aware of it but I always feel like I don't have enough time or energy to give them anything. Luckily for me, they also don't ask for much. This upcoming year, I hope to be more mindful of the needs of these two individuals and make them more of a priority.
