HOW TO GET MORE DONE IN 24 HOURS

HOW TO GET MORE DONE IN 24 HOURS

Everyone gets the same amount of time each day. 24 hours is all you get. However, there are ways to get more done in a day when you learn to use your time wisely. The very first step to using your time wisely is to determine how your time is currently being used and how much time you actually have.

IT IS ALWAYS EASIER TO STAY HOME THAN TO GO OUT

IT IS ALWAYS EASIER TO STAY HOME THAN TO GO OUT

It is always easier to stay home than to go out, but you should still go out once in a while. It's not that I have been in a rut. Actually, I just have been super comfortable staying at home and not going out. I have created a routine for my family and the thought of disrupting any of that at any time gives me a lot of anxiety

MAXIMIZE YOUR WORK DAY

MAXIMIZE YOUR WORK DAY

I don't mind being a working mom because I really do enjoy my job and the people I work with. The biggest downfall is being away from my daughter. The second biggest downfall is the lack of time to do everything that needs to be done. I struggled with the latter until I realized if I use my time effectively,

SELF-CARE SUBSCRIPTION BOX - I CARE CRATE REVIEW

SELF-CARE SUBSCRIPTION BOX - I CARE CRATE REVIEW

I am a newbie at self-care. I was never good at taking care of myself because my inner voice always told me that doing things for myself is vain, frivolous, and a waste of money. I should be doing something productive, better yet, something that yields a financial gain.

COSTCO PLAYHOUSE MAKEOVER

COSTCO PLAYHOUSE MAKEOVER

Super late with this post because I had hoped to get more done on this project before posting. Oops.

Late last year, we were very lucky to have been gifted this well-loved playhouse. It was previously loved by our friend's kids for 7-8 years. It was a cedar playhouse originally purchased from Costco and looked like this:

WRITING EFFECTIVE TO-DO LISTS

WRITING EFFECTIVE TO-DO LISTS

I have always been a huge list writer. I like writing things down so I don't forget and I don't have to keep remembering certain things. There is only so much brain space I have! I can't remember that I need to renew my car registration or my daughter has another birthday party to attend (that I have to buy a present for!)

GREAT KID FRIENDLY PLACES FOR A YYC STAYCATION

GREAT KID FRIENDLY PLACES FOR A YYC STAYCATION

A couple of months ago, I had the opportunity to have a staycation with my daughter for six days because her dayhome was closed for a month. My partner and I had to alternate weeks to watch her so this was truly our only mommy and Gracie time together since...maternity leave. (Which she doesn't remember at all!)

GREAT THINGS ABOUT HAVING A 1970'S WEEK

GREAT THINGS ABOUT HAVING A 1970'S WEEK

When our dayhome was closed for a month with less than a month's notice, we were left scrambling for care for our daughter. If needed, we were prepared to each take two weeks off work to watch her but that would really suck because that means no family vacation! Luckily for us, my mother-in-law stepped up and volunteered to watch our daughter for two weeks.

CLEARING MENTAL CLUTTER

CLEARING MENTAL CLUTTER

Yes, I know how it feels when you have a million of things to remember and you lay awake at night thinking about EVERYTHING. Your mind is constantly going and it is so hard to slow it down or even to shut it down.

I found when my mind is cluttered, I am more irritable, harder to focus on the task at hand, dwelling on the wrong things, and generally less happy or likely to smile.

SELF CARE IS NOT SELFISH

SELF CARE IS NOT SELFISH

We never stop. As women we are always on the go, cooking, cleaning, working, doing. We forget that taking care of others includes taking care of ourselves. Our own guilt plays a role in how much we do and how little we stop to think about us. We feel guilty about relaxing, letting others down and having to tell others no. Guilt prevents us from realizing that self-care is not selfish, self-care is self-love.

FINDING THE PERFECT AIRBNB (WHEN TRAVELING WITH KIDS)

FINDING THE PERFECT AIRBNB (WHEN TRAVELING WITH KIDS)

To be perfectly honest, I haven't traveled very much or very far since having my daughter. The thought of traveling with her (even if she is an angel 95% of the time) gives me a ton of anxiety. I'm constantly worried about how she will adjust and how we can possibly affect others when we travel. Until I figure out how to best travel with her on a plane, we will be sticking with road trips for a while.

DAY TRIP TO GRANARY ROAD (REVIEW)

DAY TRIP TO GRANARY ROAD (REVIEW)

With the weather in Calgary FINALLY starting to warm up, I thought it would be timely to share our Granary Road experience!

This was indeed a daytrip for us since we live in the very north end of Calgary. We were literally going from one end of Calgary to the other. When I heard about Granary Road, I was so excited! But I had to keep the excitement to myself because I wasn't quite ready to make the trip there. One random day, I showed Grace a couple of pictures friends posted on Instagram about their trip to Granary Road. From then on, all she could talk about was sliding down a frog's tongue. (This makes sense in a bit.)

STREAMLINING YOUR WARDROBE

STREAMLINING YOUR WARDROBE

I was never ever a fashionista. Not when I was younger, definitely not now that I am older.

When I was younger, I followed trends or what my friends were wearing. When I started my career, I followed what everyone else was wearing in the office or other professionals working downtown. Now that I am older, has worked professionally for a long time, and become a mom, I think I finally figured out what works for me.

Having a streamlined wardrobe allows me to always have something to wear that looks good, that I feel good in, and can get dressed quickly (because my kid makes me late all the time.)

PRODUCTIVITY HACKS TO DO MORE

PRODUCTIVITY HACKS TO DO MORE

When I started my wedding business years ago, I quickly learned how much there is to do when you are an entrepreneur on your own. Sure, it is easy to hire help to share the load but when you are just starting out, you want to hold on to every single dollar! The first thing I did was to write down every single task that I needed to do for my business. After that not so easy exercise, I started to create my own systems of being more productive.

CELEBRATING ALL (TYPES) OF MOMS

CELEBRATING ALL (TYPES) OF MOMS

Labels are not cool. Even if the label is meant to be a good one, it still gives a sense of judgment (good or bad). This post is to celebrate all types of moms, regardless the label you are given. I truly believe we are all doing our best and giving the best to our children. Here are some reasons why you ALL rock as moms:

CLEARING CLUTTER TO CLEAR ANXIETY

CLEARING CLUTTER TO CLEAR ANXIETY

My dream house is a clean, white one, that looks like nobody lives there. (Some call it a minimalist house.) Regardless of the term, I love a neat, tidy, and uncluttered home. It brings me peace even if it drives me a little nutso to get there. To be honest, I know it is hard to keep a home like this especially when you live with two people that don't see this need (one of which is a preschooler.)

2018 RESOLUTIONS CHECK UP

2018 RESOLUTIONS CHECK UP

I was a little nervous to check up on the progress of my 2018 resolutions. Mostly, because I even forgot one of them and I only had three resolutions to start! Good grief! (Can you still have a mom brain after your child is born and is now 3.5 years old?!)

Here is a recap on how I did on my resolutions in the first four months of the year:

HOW I STAY OUT OF A MOM RUT

HOW I STAY OUT OF A MOM RUT

I learned of this term for the first time almost two years ago. It was introduced to me by Kiki of Pursing Pretty. I followed her on Instagram and was inspired how she always looked good on a budget as a mom. We met up for coffee and my biggest take away was "to never be in a mom rut." I learned to put some effort into how I look and feel (without going to the salon every month, having facials daily, and mani/pedis constantly.)
