I’m Jill, a mom of 4 girls and a parent to 3 of them. My girls range in age from 9 – 19 years. They are my reason why, my daily joy and the reason that I have grey hair! I am a city girl who found her home on an acreage…I’m still not sure how that happened (but I’m loving it) and I take care of it mostly by myself as my husband works away most of the month.
I am an author, trainer and creator. I am passionate about living life and helping others create the lives that they desire most. I love using strategy and energy to make it happen. My favorite thing to do is to create online programs (because I love to share what I’ve learned and what works for me and I’m an introvert so I can hang by myself and still teach all of you!), write (my first book was published in 2018 and I’m working on a series of stories now) and share what I’ve learned and know about living fully (which is why I have a podcast called Ninja Jill KNOWS).
I love decorating, doing anything creative, reading and learning new things. I am a personal growth junkie that is for sure.
Each day, I strive to live fully, to fulfill my purpose and to listen to my heart to create the life I desire most, to support you in doing the same and to be the best mother I can be to my beautiful girls. When I lay down each night, I want to know that somebody’s life shifted towards what they want most because of something I said, shared, created or did.
WHAT IS YOUR BUSINESS AND WHAT LEAD YOU TO START IT?
My business focuses on helping women remember who they are, determine what they truly want and then take inspired action to make it happen.
I have a collection of online programs that focus on shifting mental, phsyical and spiritual energy with courses in the sacred practice of Ho’oponopono, FOUNDATIONAL Feng Shui and Creating your life daily using my Detemine your Soulset© system. Soulset© is your purpose and your plan to pursue it.
I began as a Director of Marketing in the corporate arena and when I lost my second baby, I decided to quit my corporate life and stay at home with my oldest who was 7 at the time. I dove into the study of energy and then started teaching Feng Shui and personal growth in workshops, one-on-one and in retreat format. A debilitating health issue in 2014 forced me to shift again since I wasn’t well enough to see clients anymore which led me to the online world and creating courses virtually. Over these last 5 years, I have grown my audience, have worked with hundreds of clients online individually and in my programs, started my podcast Ninja Jill KNOWS with over 240 episodes and growing and wrote and self-published my book “When the Meaning is Lost”.
Each of my offerings and courses focus on YOU; who you are, who you want to be now and what is most important to you in your life. I believe that we each should be fulfilling our purpose each and every day in small and big ways.
WHO INSPIRES YOU?
I’m truly inspired by anyone who is going after their dream, who has achieved something they really wanted and who continues to raise their own personal bar and expectations of self to create more and be more. I love seeing commitment, dedication and perseverance in action. I love when people win. That inspires me most.
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR TIPS TO MAINTAIN A WORK-LIFE BALANCE?
I don’t know that a work-life balance is truly possible. What I do know is that the moment I let go of it needing to be possible, some sort of balance is naturally found.
I think it’s important to be a realist with your time and what you want most in your life. If you desire to be a very present parent and heavily involved in every aspect of your children's lives, unless you hire out ALL of the household chores and have a team, you won’t have a ton of time to work on something so choose a business that only needs that number of hours of attention each week. Know your priorities, minimize your distractions, collapse time, delegate what you can and on the days when it all “falls apart” just remember that tomorrow is another day.
Don’t over schedule yourself or your kids. Your life will be better because of it and I promise that you will actually produce more because you will be less stressed out.
WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR OTHER MOMS WANTING TO START A BUSINESS?
When I chose to leave the corporate arena and work from home, I set clear intentions and boundaries of what that would look like for me. I knew that I wanted to be available for any of the school activities or appointments my girls had. I also wanted to be able to cancel everything at a moments notice if I needed too. This was important because my husband works away from home so I do a lot of parenting by myself. So, I set my business up to be this flexible.
These intentions and boundaries are different for everyone. Really reflect on how you want your business to serve your family. Is it for extra fun money, is it to pay the household bills, is it something you want to grow and add team members too or do you want to work in the hours the kids are at school?
Write down how you see this working for YOU. What do you want it to look like? When you are clear on this, then you can structure your business and services accordingly.
Also, get some help. You can’t do it all. Delegate some of the household duties that you are currently doing (I’ve had a cleaning team come every two weeks for the last 12 years and it saves me 4+ hours a week), set a meal plan so you are more efficient with fueling everyone or have home delivery of meals.
Set work hours! I work from home but I have work hours where I only work on my business stuff, the household things wait until after my “work day” is complete.
Make sure that your business is something that you are passionate about and fulfills your purpose because it will all take longer than you think, it will require more energy than you may have expected and there will be a ton of resistance and fear with any new idea. Keep going. Have faith. Take the leap. You won’t know if it will work until you really give it a try.
IF YOU HAD AN EXTRA HOUR TODAY, WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH IT?
If I have finished my top 3 actions for the day, I might dive into that stack of books that are on my desk to read or start that online program I purchased for personal growth or find one of my girls and play some board games. There are so many options and I know that I would choose something that would fill me up. I know that the more I fill my tank, the better mother I am, the better spouse I am and the more impact that I can make.
