I think the most common misconception of anti-aging products is when to start using them. Often I hear people say they don’t need anti-aging products because they don’t have wrinkles yet. I try to explain to them the best time to start using these products is before there are any signs of aging.Read More
Every mom with more experience than you will tell you "me time" is absolutely necessary.
I never really had "me time" before Grace was born because I was never really one to pamper myself. I always had a job and a side business so that didn't leave a lot of time for anything else. At the most, I would get a hair cut at the beginning of wedding season and a pedicure if I had planned in advance to wear sandals when working a wedding. (Rarely the case.)Read More
My focus has always been on skincare, not makeup. I always used some makeup but didn't really know how to apply it until I was on maternity leave and spent a lot of time on youtube while breastfeeding or pumping in the middle of the night. Two of my favorite youtube stars are (of course) Michelle Phan and Lindy of Bubzbeauty.Read More
One day, Grace came up to me and said; "Mommy, I'm a chatterbox." I responded with "Yes, you are." Then I thought, where did she learn the word chatterbox?!
At just over two years old, Grace started putting together 11-12 word sentences. I thought this was normal until everyone told me that she is really advanced for her age and she really knows a lot of words. I did some research and learned at two years old, most children know about 200 words and puts together 2-3 word sentences. Whoa. She does 11-12 word sentences and knows at least 400 words. That is when I knew Grace was really advanced with her literacy.Read More
You all heard the term before "beauty sleep" but how many of you actually embrace it? I honestly would love to sleep the hours a baby or toddler does. I love sleeping and it has been one of my most guarded things that I do. I can give up on chips and bacon, internet, and even Netflix for some solid hours of sleep.Read More
I have always been a multi-tasker but after I became a mom, I really had to kick this multi-tasking thing in high gear! I realized I now have less time in general and most of it was used on someone that needs a lot of attention and assistance with every aspect of her life. A couple of times, I ran out to run errands with Grace and she got a lot of complements on how cute she looked in her outfit. I didn’t get any because I looked like crap. I had 25 minutes to get out the door and 20 of it was used on her.Read More
With the holidays upon us, going to a couple of parties is inevitable. Regardless of the party you throw or attend, there are some similar things that will happen to all of us:
We will get less sleep (unless you can make it up the next day);
We will look a little haggard; and
We will be too tired to follow our usual skincare routine.
When I tell people about my fears of aging, they usually respond with "Oh, you have nothing to worry about, you are Asian and you will still look young when you get old." Flattering, Somewhat. But let's not just sit back and rely on my Asian genes.Read More
Hello! I’m Kelly and I’m the founder and creative director of Lovesky Design. We specialize in custom handcrafted luxury wedding invitations.
1. When did you start your business and what was your inspiration?
I started in 2013 not too long after I graduated from SAIT majoring in graphic design. I was motivated by the fact that life is short and if there’s one thing we shouldn’t be afraid of is following our dreams. It was my dream to design, to challenge myself and create beautiful things. I’ve always loved weddings so I put the two together and made that my focus for my business.
2. What makes your business different from others?
A personalized, design experience is what sets us apart. It's important to me that the process is easy, stress-free, and enjoyable. I work hard to keep my clients happy, on track and excited. I have a desire to create something special for people.
3. What is the best part of your job?
When clients tell me how happy they were with the finished product. It’s very rewarding to know they value and love your work.
4. What do you hope to achieve with each wedding?
I always strive to do my very best. My clients deserve nothing but the best from me. I’m not a perfectionist in life but when it comes to work, from design to production, everything needs to be perfect.
5. What was your most memorable wedding?
I designed a custom invitation for a couple from the States. What made the experience memorable was the bride who sent me the sweetest thank you gift. It was a recipe booklet she compiled of her favourite family recipes. She gave it as a wedding favour for her guests and I designed the front cover that was cohesive to her wedding invites. I wasn’t expecting her to send me one too. It was such a sweet and personal gift. Not only was I a part of her wedding team as a vendor but receiving that made me feel like a part of her family.
6. Words that you live by?
Be fearless. Do what you love and never stop learning.

The hair, the makeup, the dress…your skin? That’s right, whether you’re the bride-to-be, a bridesmaid or a VIP guest, you want your skin to be as smooth and flawless as the wedding. But how do you get your complexion to say “I do” for the big day too?Read More
One day out of the blue, as I was working, my glass water bottle broke. I was shocked but even more shocked when I started to cry hard, correction, ball my eyes out over…a…water…bottle. Once I pulled myself together and off the floor, I asked myself what the heck is going on with you? It can’t be hormones because you can’t continue to blame hormones 17 months after the birth of your daughter. It can’t be because I am sleep deprived because I haven’t sleep in 17 months. Then, it finally dawned on me. This water bottle was significant to me at a significant time.Read More
Last month was Grace's second birthday and honestly I have been thinking and "pinning" about this birthday for about half a year. She loves painting and doing artwork so it was a no brainer that I wanted to throw her an Art themed party. Here are some reactions to this party idea:
When I told my partner, he said: Sounds like a lot of work but I think she will love it. (Um yeah.)
So, this is something else I do that when I tell people, they look at me like I have five heads. (People usually look at me like I have three heads already,) One friend even said to me: I know Kate Moss swears by this for an instant face lift but I didn't think real people do it. Her comment made me question my "realness."Read More
The thought of attending a wedding without alcohol might make some people cringe but for me, I don't really care. I've been to enough weddings and have seen it all. I've seen invoices where the drink tab is higher than the meals at the wedding. I've also seen seven alcoholic drinks on the entire wedding reception drink tab. When asked if it is ok to have an alcohol-free wedding, I find it tricky to answer. As it depends on who is asking the question. Here any my answers to these specific people.Read More

I love keeping things out of sight. Visual clutter annoys me to no end. Although my daughter is only 18 months old, she has acquired a lot of things, she might even have more things than me. In my quest to hide things and yet still have a craft project for her, I found an awesome wooden box for $3.00 at the dollar store. Pretty sweet deal to have a storage solution and not yet ANOTHER piece of paper covered in paint.Read More
Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. We've all heard it, and it's very common for a bride to turn to her family or close friends to help her get a little boost of luck as she heads down the aisle. And while you did your very best to take care of it, sometimes things just happen. What can you do if the item you've borrowed for your wedding day gets damaged?Read More
I feel like I will dread the day when my daughter will be going to school. This feeling is probably because my daughter is so cute (yeah, I'm biased), she still LIKES me, and wants to be around me. Give it a couple of years, she will probably not want me around and want some privacy of her own. Not happening.Read More
