I posted my 2017 New Years Resolution because I wanted to be held accountable to them and I could reference back to what they were in the first place. My mid-year recap was a little check up on myself to see how I was doing with them (and whether some was just not going to happen.) Now that we are at the end of the year, here are my results:Read More
Holy crap. I am so surprised I made it to three years of being a mom. I wasn't sure I was going to make it which is bizarre because there isn't a return policy on kids. You just somehow muddle through it and I think that is exactly what I did.Read More
Last month, something special happened:
I listed a Kate Spade purse on Kijiji and within five minutes of listing it, I got someone interested in it. This person told me he is a stay at home dad to two kids. He lost his job and his wife has been supporting the family. He would like to get her a present as a thank you but he doesn't have money. He wanted to trade for my purse. He suggested numerous items but I didn't need any of the items. I sent him a response and the following day we made a trade - my Kate Spade purse for a small no frills coffee. He said it wasn't a fair trade. I told him it was because we both got something that brought us joy. I told him the world needs more kindness. He told me I am an example that there are still good people in the world.Read More
I am a firm believer in constantly evaluating your happiness and evolving from it. To some, it may "look" like I am constantly changing and doing something new. However, to me, I am finding myself, finding happiness, and finding my journey. (Side note, it really doesn't matter to me what my life looks like to others. It shouldn't matter to you either.)Read More
This update is going to be a really personal one.
I used to hate the month of May. Yup, the entire month. The main reason is because Mother's Day is in this month and there are constant and tons of reminders of this day. I hated being constantly reminded that my mom passed away and I "couldn't" celebrate this day.Read More
The first quarter of the year has ended and I think it is timely to look back and see where I am at with my new years resolutions.

In this category, I thought the most important thing for me is to start moving again for me. As such, I did three things:Read More
Everyone that knows me knows I love to do DIYs. After Grace was born, my DIY world got so much bigger. There are so many things I can make now:
Every special day is now an opportunity to make something for her or with her.
Every birthday is an opportunity for a new theme party.
Every piece of material has numerous opportunities for new creations.Read More
Although last month, I said "no" to wedding planning, it didn't mean it was the end of event planning for me! Couple of weeks ago, over at Milk+Confetti, I organized a photoshoot and event for moms to recharge, restart, and destress. (Event pics to follow.)
The photoshoot was done at Barre Body Studio - Ramsey location. The location had beautiful brick walls and lots of natural lighting. Amy from Modern Nest Photography took stunning pictures of our model moms. (You wouldn't believe how much crap was actually in this room and the amount of people. Angles. Always all about angles.)Read More
I gave the future of Wishahmon a lot of thought the last couple of months and talked to a lot of people about it. Some were confused of the "identity" of Wishahmon and lost interest in what I had to say; some were just interested in the new aspects I added the latter part of 2016; and some thought I should shut down Wishahmon and start new.Read More
Looking back at the year I've had is something I do every year end. Surprisingly, I only remember the happy things and not the things that I ugly cried about. Must keep this in mind for the following year - whatever "major earth shattering" issue I am having at that moment will likely be forgotten months later. Here are some great things I remember from this year:Read More
Hello! I’m Kelly and I’m the founder and creative director of Lovesky Design. We specialize in custom handcrafted luxury wedding invitations.
1. When did you start your business and what was your inspiration?
I started in 2013 not too long after I graduated from SAIT majoring in graphic design. I was motivated by the fact that life is short and if there’s one thing we shouldn’t be afraid of is following our dreams. It was my dream to design, to challenge myself and create beautiful things. I’ve always loved weddings so I put the two together and made that my focus for my business.
2. What makes your business different from others?
A personalized, design experience is what sets us apart. It's important to me that the process is easy, stress-free, and enjoyable. I work hard to keep my clients happy, on track and excited. I have a desire to create something special for people.
3. What is the best part of your job?
When clients tell me how happy they were with the finished product. It’s very rewarding to know they value and love your work.
4. What do you hope to achieve with each wedding?
I always strive to do my very best. My clients deserve nothing but the best from me. I’m not a perfectionist in life but when it comes to work, from design to production, everything needs to be perfect.
5. What was your most memorable wedding?
I designed a custom invitation for a couple from the States. What made the experience memorable was the bride who sent me the sweetest thank you gift. It was a recipe booklet she compiled of her favourite family recipes. She gave it as a wedding favour for her guests and I designed the front cover that was cohesive to her wedding invites. I wasn’t expecting her to send me one too. It was such a sweet and personal gift. Not only was I a part of her wedding team as a vendor but receiving that made me feel like a part of her family.
6. Words that you live by?
Be fearless. Do what you love and never stop learning.

One day out of the blue, as I was working, my glass water bottle broke. I was shocked but even more shocked when I started to cry hard, correction, ball my eyes out over…a…water…bottle. Once I pulled myself together and off the floor, I asked myself what the heck is going on with you? It can’t be hormones because you can’t continue to blame hormones 17 months after the birth of your daughter. It can’t be because I am sleep deprived because I haven’t sleep in 17 months. Then, it finally dawned on me. This water bottle was significant to me at a significant time.Read More
There hasn't been a lot of updates or showcasing of weddings or events that I have been planning mostly due to my tardiness. I assure you that I have kept myself busy and wasn't just catching up on shows on Netflix. (I'm caught up anyways.) Here's what new (or what I did last month.)Read More
The beginning of August is officially the half way point of summer and for some of us - wedding season. Wedding vendors are starting to get tired and wanting to veg out in the sun with an alcoholic drink. Some of us plan ahead and take a little break when we can.
At the end of June, I had the opportunity to head out to Kelowna for a couple of days. Continuing my new tradition (three years in a row now) I scheduled a photo shoot with a professional photographer. It wasn't an easy task finding a photographer in another location. I felt a bit like a bride looking for a destination wedding photographer. As such, I thought like a bride. I started my research online with an idea of what kind of photography style I was looking for and what my budget was. I looked for over a month before I started to branch out my search to another location. My search took me from Kelowna to Peachland to Summerland to Oliver, BC.Read More
