My focus has always been on skincare, not makeup. I always used some makeup but didn't really know how to apply it until I was on maternity leave and spent a lot of time on youtube while breastfeeding or pumping in the middle of the night. Two of my favorite youtube stars are (of course) Michelle Phan and Lindy of Bubzbeauty.Read More
You all heard the term before "beauty sleep" but how many of you actually embrace it? I honestly would love to sleep the hours a baby or toddler does. I love sleeping and it has been one of my most guarded things that I do. I can give up on chips and bacon, internet, and even Netflix for some solid hours of sleep.Read More
I gave the future of Wishahmon a lot of thought the last couple of months and talked to a lot of people about it. Some were confused of the "identity" of Wishahmon and lost interest in what I had to say; some were just interested in the new aspects I added the latter part of 2016; and some thought I should shut down Wishahmon and start new.Read More
Looking back at the year I've had is something I do every year end. Surprisingly, I only remember the happy things and not the things that I ugly cried about. Must keep this in mind for the following year - whatever "major earth shattering" issue I am having at that moment will likely be forgotten months later. Here are some great things I remember from this year:Read More
With the holidays upon us, going to a couple of parties is inevitable. Regardless of the party you throw or attend, there are some similar things that will happen to all of us:
We will get less sleep (unless you can make it up the next day);
We will look a little haggard; and
We will be too tired to follow our usual skincare routine.
When I tell people about my fears of aging, they usually respond with "Oh, you have nothing to worry about, you are Asian and you will still look young when you get old." Flattering, Somewhat. But let's not just sit back and rely on my Asian genes.Read More
Hello! I’m Kelly and I’m the founder and creative director of Lovesky Design. We specialize in custom handcrafted luxury wedding invitations.
1. When did you start your business and what was your inspiration?
I started in 2013 not too long after I graduated from SAIT majoring in graphic design. I was motivated by the fact that life is short and if there’s one thing we shouldn’t be afraid of is following our dreams. It was my dream to design, to challenge myself and create beautiful things. I’ve always loved weddings so I put the two together and made that my focus for my business.
2. What makes your business different from others?
A personalized, design experience is what sets us apart. It's important to me that the process is easy, stress-free, and enjoyable. I work hard to keep my clients happy, on track and excited. I have a desire to create something special for people.
3. What is the best part of your job?
When clients tell me how happy they were with the finished product. It’s very rewarding to know they value and love your work.
4. What do you hope to achieve with each wedding?
I always strive to do my very best. My clients deserve nothing but the best from me. I’m not a perfectionist in life but when it comes to work, from design to production, everything needs to be perfect.
5. What was your most memorable wedding?
I designed a custom invitation for a couple from the States. What made the experience memorable was the bride who sent me the sweetest thank you gift. It was a recipe booklet she compiled of her favourite family recipes. She gave it as a wedding favour for her guests and I designed the front cover that was cohesive to her wedding invites. I wasn’t expecting her to send me one too. It was such a sweet and personal gift. Not only was I a part of her wedding team as a vendor but receiving that made me feel like a part of her family.
6. Words that you live by?
Be fearless. Do what you love and never stop learning.

There hasn't been a lot of updates or showcasing of weddings or events that I have been planning mostly due to my tardiness. I assure you that I have kept myself busy and wasn't just catching up on shows on Netflix. (I'm caught up anyways.) Here's what new (or what I did last month.)Read More
So, this is something else I do that when I tell people, they look at me like I have five heads. (People usually look at me like I have three heads already,) One friend even said to me: I know Kate Moss swears by this for an instant face lift but I didn't think real people do it. Her comment made me question my "realness."Read More
The thought of attending a wedding without alcohol might make some people cringe but for me, I don't really care. I've been to enough weddings and have seen it all. I've seen invoices where the drink tab is higher than the meals at the wedding. I've also seen seven alcoholic drinks on the entire wedding reception drink tab. When asked if it is ok to have an alcohol-free wedding, I find it tricky to answer. As it depends on who is asking the question. Here any my answers to these specific people.Read More
I love keeping things out of sight. Visual clutter annoys me to no end. Although my daughter is only 18 months old, she has acquired a lot of things, she might even have more things than me. In my quest to hide things and yet still have a craft project for her, I found an awesome wooden box for $3.00 at the dollar store. Pretty sweet deal to have a storage solution and not yet ANOTHER piece of paper covered in paint. I love keeping things out of sight. Visual clutter annoys me to no end. Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. We've all heard it, and it's very common for a bride to turn to her family or close friends to help her get a little boost of luck as she heads down the aisle. And while you did your very best to take care of it, sometimes things just happen. What can you do if the item you've borrowed for your wedding day gets damaged?Read More
I have had clients where the wine they serve is more important to them than the reception dinner itself. Because I am a cheap drunk (like tipsy from one wine tasting,) I found myself at a lost when providing them advice on the amount of wine that should be served at their wedding. Sure they knew what wines they wanted but they didn't know how much wine to buy or budget for. As their wedding planner, of course, I had to do my best to estimate and help them stay within budget.Read More
