Sure, summer is a great time to relax but for me, it is also a great way to do some decluttering and cleaning around the house. I never really get around to spring cleaning because often where I live, there is still snow on the ground and often it seems to be the busiest time of the year. Summer has become a great time for me to declutter because this is when I am switching the house (and my mind) over from the cold to warm season.
Do you scramble to clean the house when someone calls/texts they want to drop by? I used to be the same way. The last couple of years, I learned how to keep a very tidy home without spending hours a day or week keeping it that way. This blog post shares my secrets of how I maintain a tidy home on a regular basis in a non time- consuming way.
Unless you loved toys to begin with and is a collector of them, it seems like toys only start coming into your house (and life) immediately after you have a child. Everyone, including yourself, loves to buy toys for your child because of the joy on their face when they receive and play with them. The buying and seeing joy, leads to a never ending cycle and an accumulation of toys in your home. In this blog post, I will share my tips on how to deal with toy clutter and end the cycle of toys coming into the home.
Believe it or not there are several times of the year when it is the best time to de-clutter and do some deep cleaning at home. Not sure if you believe me? Remember the last time, out of the blue, you started to clean your house?!
I've been in my current home for over 10 years now. Honestly, I didn't initially buy it because I loved the house. I bought it because it is walking distance to my dad’s house. It was a huge fixer upper and we completed renovated it from top to bottom over the last ten yeas. I always love my home right after the renovations because it is so nice to see our hard work come to life.
Now that I am thinking about it, I might have been a natural minimalist all my life. When I was young, I was always tidy and kept my room straight. Mostly because I wouldn't have to listen to my mom nag me to clean it. When I started working, I didn't buy unnecessary knick knacks because it was a waste of money and I would likely get tired of them.
My dream house is a clean, white one, that looks like nobody lives there. (Some call it a minimalist house.) Regardless of the term, I love a neat, tidy, and uncluttered home. It brings me peace even if it drives me a little nutso to get there. To be honest, I know it is hard to keep a home like this especially when you live with two people that don't see this need (one of which is a preschooler.)
I believe in collaboration over competition, and sharing over keeping things to ourselves. If you have a great products, service, or something that would benefit others, let’s chat and see how we can collaborate!
